The State Food Commission has been formed by Government of Kerala as per Sec 16 of National Food Security Act 2013. The State Food Commission consists of a Chairperson, five other Members and a Member Secretary, who shall be an Officer of the State Government not below the rank of Joint Secretary to Government. One of the major responsibilities of the State food Commission is to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Provisions of Food Security laid under Chapter II of National Food Security Act 2013, viz. Targeted Public Distribution System, Nutritional Support to pregnant women and lactating mothers and Nutritional Support to children up to the age of fourteen years. This Website is meant to disseminate the provisions of the Act and to popularize the activities of the Commission among the general public and to ensure the speedy redressal of the grievances.
